Pentangle Engineering Services Ltd was formed in 2004 by its original founders:-
  • Mark Paterson (Managing Director)
  • Nigel Rivers (Company Director / Company Secretary)
  • Andrew Kennedy (Company Director)
Pentangle was set up to provide the manufacturing sector with specialist machine services and support.

Pentangle specialises in the production of robot systems, special purpose Automation machinery and support and has branded itself as a Robotics and Automation company to enable it to gain exposure in different market sectors.

The experience and expertise possessed by the co-founders enabled Pentangle to offer the complete engineered solution.

Many robotic, welding and Automation companies at this time could not offer an in house ‘Turnkey’ solution.

Pentangle started with a strong mechanical and electrical design background which enabled the company to offer sound engineered solutions.

Pentangle placed a big emphasis on Customer Support and Service and where many others failed Pentangle flourished.

Kevin Meakins and Keith Adcock both joined Pentangle as directors in June 2005 bringing with them further strength in the design and machine build disciplines.

A Laser marking and cutting division was formed in December 2006, Tom Tyndall joined Pentangle as a director. Tom brings a wealth of experience from within the laser marking and cutting industry.

Pentangle purchased its new 4000 sq. ft. manufacturing and office facility and moved from the old factory to the new premises in May 2007.

December 2008 saw Steve Ashwin employed as Sales Manager bringing many years experience in the welding and Automation industry.
Pentangle gained the accreditation for ISO9001 (2008) in early 2009.
Increased workloads and additional members of the team needed to be catered for and Pentangle expanded into the next door unit, another 4,000 sq. ft. manufacturing and office facility, in 2009.
Further increases in workloads and shortages of skilled personnel, led Pentangle to take on their first apprentice in September 2011.
Alan Hardisty joined Pentangle in November 2011 to build up in house fabrication. This was a great success and soon became Pentangle Fabrications, our sister Company. Alan became the M.D of Pentangle Fabrications.
In 2013, Pentangle Engineering were selected as "The Business of the Year" for our local area. Since then, Pentangle have become involved with several local Charities and are now part of the selection board for the Local Business Awards.
To date Pentangle has grown to 27 team members including 4 apprentices and has a sister Company that occupies units totaling 10,000 sq. ft. with it's own team and equipment including a new Laser cutting system, C.N.C Press and a number of Robotic Welding Cells for batch work.

Top Safety Accreditation for Pentangle Engineering Services Ltd
April 2018

Local business Pentangle Engineering has been awarded accreditation from Alcumus SafeContractor for achieving excellence in health and safety in the workplace.

Alcumus SafeContractor is a leading third party accreditation scheme which recognises extremely rigorous standards in health and safety management amongst contractors. It is used by thousands of organisations in the UK including SMEs and FTSE 100 companies.

Employing 27 people, Pentangle Engineering is involved in many different sectors, specialising in Robotic and Automation turnkey systems, covering a variety of processes including welding and handling.

The company’s application for SafeContractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business. SafeContractor accreditation will enhance the company’s ability to win new contracts, and its commitment to safety will be viewed positively by its insurers when the company liability policy is up for renewal.

Gemma Archibald, Director of Alcumus SafeContractor said: "Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place."

"More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Pentangle Engineering has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector. SafeContractor plays a vital role in supporting our clients in meeting their compliance needs, whilst working with their contractors as they progress through the accreditation process.”
